Opening with a shuffle is a pretty daring move these days. Done incorrectly, you’ll easily look like a fool. But, the way that Fairweather Friends combines the jam-life-force of Wilco with the indie-outrage of soft-core, post Good News, Modest Mouse makes for a classy act. However, none of which I just described applies at all to the linguistic qualities of the band, that, within itself, has its own bold sound.
